Events past and future
Monetary Solutions held a number of successful events during 2011. Our first was last April, which was the Charity Pamper Day:
Charity Pamper Day
For me, this was one of the best events I have held for Monetary Solutions. The support we got was incredible. Within a matter of hours, all the seminar slots and display tables had been booked. The hotel could not have been more amenable and gave us so much support. I have to say the whole event was a pleasure to organise!
The chosen charity was the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. Two of my friends lost young children to brain tumours and so for me, this was such a worthy cause. We ended up raising just over £550 for the charity and what a wonderful way to do it.
You can relive this successful day in this video.
‘We Mean Business’ exhibition
Our next major event was the ‘We Mean Business’ exhibition at the Fairfield on 3rd November. I was on the committee that helped organise the event, and we also sponsored it. This was a fantastic day where businesses in Croydon united after the riots and joined forces in this incredible exhibition. It was believed that nearly 800 visitors attended, and it was another fantastic day to be part of.
Women Adviser and Broker Group event
The last event we held for 2011 was for Female IFAs. The percentage of female IFAs is minimal so I run a networking group for us to give each other support in such a male-dominated industry. On the 23rd November, we held a special day which was a phenomenal success. I hope to organise similar functions on a more regular basis.
Other Events
We also host regular seminars specially designed for solicitors and accountants, as we work closely with both. All these have attracted excellent attendance levels.
Running
Finally, one of my proudest achievements of 2011 was running 10k for charity (Help the Heroes) and in April I ran my first half-marathon. Until nine months previously I had never run, and wasn’t even able to run around the block! I now love to run and find it helps me manage the stress of my job as well as contribute towards worthy causes.
2012
I don’t intend to launch any new events this year. Now that this range of events is up and running, I plan to improve each of them. I look forward to seeing you there.
